    Background: One of the most famous circuses in europe opened in West Berlin last week with a full complement of acrobats, dancing bears, high-wire acrobats, tame lions and clowns. It was the 'Menschen-Tiere-Sensationen' (Men, Animals, Sensations) which is known throughout the Continent.

    The circus, which was housed in the Deutschlandhalle in West Berlin, featured acts from both West and East Germany, Russia, France, Britain and many other parts of the world.
