Background: In Lasern, near Goisern in Upper Austria, the local craze is the sport of the cross-bow. It's not just a passing thing - they have seen at it since 1661.
But like most sports it has its season and like most good things it comes to an end. The season ends October 12 and it ends with a long - or is it a twang?
The whole village makes fiesta, out comes the band, out comes the beer for drinks all round and the archers have their last fling of the year.
And next day - by tradition - they all take a day off work.
