Background: Thousands of people participated in jubilant demonstrations all over Jordan April 1, to celebrate improved relations with the United Arab Republic. Newspapers showed pictures of King Hussein and President Nasser beside their national flags, and reported that Mr. Dallati, U.A.R. charge d'affaires, had left Damascus with a message from the King to President Nasser.
Film shows excited crowds in Amman shouting their approval of the ending of the rift between the two Arab leaders which formerly had seemed unbridgeable.
When Jordan made the first overtures to reconciliation, it was thought that they had been rejected. When an answer was eventually received, and it was described by the Jordanian Premier as fully satisfactory, there was happy surprise.
