TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 1: HUERTA: While our country marches with a firm step towards the consolidation of its traditional stability, the Government replies to all questions asked and maintains a close and unchanging collaboration with the Organisation - in a way, I??? might add, that has not been done by any other member State accused. Nevertheless, we have seen that - instead of giving priority to the principles of the Treaty of Human Rights, the debates have concentrated on the political attack. Some have even declared - and this is documented officially - that their aim is the overthrow of the Government of my country.
SEQ. 3: MARTINES: In the first place, the representative of the Santiago Junta has said that, since 1972, there has been a notable tendency towards the 'normalization of the Chilean situation'. I will....not put into doubt the capability of understanding of the delegations around this table to pass the correct judgement on that assertion. I think it useless to insist here on the attention that the group has paid in the last few months to the aggravating of the situation, in particular the cases of the disappearance without trace of many individuals. This phase - which is relatively new to the repressive policy of the Chilean Junta - cannot be reconciled with those attempts to make it appear that the situation is improving in Chile."
