Background: It is reported that following Nasser's death a state of maximum alert was ordered by Egypt along the cease-fire line with Israel. The Israel Army spokesman said yesterday that the usual routine prevailed among Israeli forces on the Suez Canal. No particular tension had been noted.

An Army cameraman who visited yesterday the ISMALIA area brought back film of the Egyptian side of the waterway. It showed pictures taken in front of the town of Ismalia of soldiers waiving, traffic on road, damaged buildings and other construction work, stranded ships in the Lake TIMSAH and of general air aloofness prevailing now since the cease-fire started 40 days ago.
