One hundred and fourteen of America;'s top divers competed in the competition which was also a forerunner to the Pan American Games and a preview of the possible contenders for next year's Olympic diving team.
Two men fought for the title in the three-metre board quarter finals on Thursday. The eventual winner was Phil Boggs who had a 15-point lead. Ohio's Tim Moore was runner-up but edged into the lead in the one-metre even.
In the women's four-metre board event, favourite Cynthia Potter McIngvale had a nine-point victory over Chris Loock. It was her 21st national title and she looked like taking the finals of the one-metre and 10-metre events on Saturday (16 August).
