The Panamanian Chief of Government, General Omar Torrijos Herrera arrived in Buenos Aires on Tuesday (15 January) for an official visit to Argentina.

Background: The Panamanian Chief of Government, General Omar Torrijos Herrera arrived in Buenos Aires on Tuesday (15 January) for an official visit to Argentina. General Torrijos was at the head of a large delegation which included Panama's Minister of Foreign Affairs. Juan Antonio Tack, and the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Fernando Manfredo.
Trade and commercial ties between Panama and Argentina were expected to form the main topic for discussion between the two delegations.
General Torrijos and his wife Raquel were welcomed at the airport by the Vice President of Argentina, Madame Isabel Peron, wife of the Argentine leader General Juan Peron.
He was also welcomed by a declaration from the Peron Justicialista Party that both President Peron and General Torrijos were trying to reconstruct their countries and unite Latin America.
After his five jay visit to Argentina General Torrijos travels on to Lima for a five day official visit to Peru.
