TRANSCRIPT: (SEQ. 4): CARL McINTYRE: "Oh, international news....Thank you, we're glad to see you. Well, the purpose of this is to bring out into the open so the world can see that America is not going to appease the Communists any more. We are not going to be a party to helping build a Communist world. We want freedom, decency, order. We don't want the Viet Cong flag -- the flag of our enemy -- flying over the White House of the United States, and we don't want to see it on the front porch of the Secretary of Defence. That's no place for anything like that to be. We've had enough, we're down here to tell the world that we believe in the Almighty God. We trust and believe in the true God and we appeal to this nation to turn its face again to the god of our fathers so we can have some deliverance. That's our story, and we're here today to tell it to the world. Thank you very much."

Background: Demonstrators were back in the streets of Washington yesterday (Saturday). But this time it was the turn of the Hawks -- the pro-war faction demanding a military victory in Vietnam.

An estimated 14,000 of them marched through the streets, waving flags, beating drums and parading in military uniforms. Visnews cameraman Jean Poignonec got the inside story of the this crusade against communism from the man who organised it, right-wing preacher the Rev. Carl McIntyre:
SYNOPSIS: Demonstrators were back in the streets of Washington on Saturday. But this time it was the turn of the Hawks -- the pro-war faction demanding military victory in Vietnam. They called their demonstration a "March for Victory", and intended it as a reply to last week's anti-war protests. Right-wing preacher Carl McIntyre explains why he organised the march:
Patriotic moments from America's past -- like the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima -- were re-enacted.

The turnout was only a fraction of the two-hundred thousand anti-war demonstrators who invaded the capital a fortnight earlier. The organisers attributed this partly to the weather, partly to the fear of violence from anti-war extremists. But the parade passed off peacefully without any clashes.
