Background: Medical supplies and vehicles were handed over to the Nigerian Red Cross in Lagos on Friday (24 April) by the Austrian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Alexander Otto.
At the ceremony at the Nigerian Red Cross Headquarters the equipment was accepted by the Red Cross Chairman, Sir Adetokunbo Ademola. Also present at the ceremony were members of an Austrian medical team who have been engaged in relief work in Nigeria and are returning to Austria.
The equipment handed over, which includes a truck, has already been in use in war-affected areas.
SYNOPSIS: The Nigerian Red Cross Headquarters in Lagos on Friday (24 April) at a formal ceremony, the Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Sir Adetokunbo Ademola, thanked an Austrian medical team for the gift of medical equipment for relief work.
Sir Adetokunbo then shook hands with the medical team who are returning to Austria.
The Austrian Ambassador, Mr. Alexander Otto, joined Sir Adetokunbo then examining the truck which was being handed over with medical suppliers.
Mr. Otto handed the keys to the vehicle which will return to war affected areas to be used by Nigerian Red Cross personnel.
Medical equipment in the truck was then checked in preparation for the relief programme.
