Background: After two shooting incidents between rival groups of soldiers in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, troops have been moved in to guard vital buildings. The shootings follow the arrest of the martial law commander, General Chung Seng Hwan after an hour long gun battle at his home.

SYNOPSIS: Troops have been posted outside every important Government building following the fighting. It's understood rival factions within the army are vying for a bigger say in national affairs. Because of the Government's concern that the discontent could spread, road blocks have been set up to stop any attempt to slow down the country's move back to democracy. General Chung was arrested after the self confessed assassin of President Park implicated him in the October killing. The shooting incidents have shocked Sough Koreans, and according to political and diplomatic sources, they've prompted a group of young, hard-line Army officers to take a greater role in shaping the forces' view on future political life. The Army, which brought President Park to power in nineteen sixty one, is still virtually running the country. However, a dozen Generals are reported to have been arrested recently, after expressing views that the country is moving to quickly.
