Background: Prisoners now detained in the State Correctional Institution at Fairmount, Pennsylvania, USA., are being given a chance to express some of their longings and nostalgia for the wide open space...by painting.

A completely new idea of Prison Governor William Banmiller and volunteer art director George Redling, the group of safety 'artists' is allowed to set up its easels inside the prison walls.. to paint scenes from 'the outside'.

According to Governor Banmiller, the experiment is proving to be a great success by turning many would-be recalcitrants into 'first-class model prisoners'.
