Background: Nigeria defeated Morocco three goals to nil in their friendly international soccer game played in Lagos Sunday night (20 February).

Scoring two quick goals in the first half of the match, Nigeria's "Green Eagles" showed the same form that earned them a good deal of respect from other African teams in the 1960's.

The Lagos match was played as a warm-up before next week's African Nations' Cup Finals which open in Yaounde, Cameroun.

SYNOPSIS: Sunday night at the Lagos City Stadium in Nigeria. A toss of the coin and then it's international soccer with Nigeria hosting Morocco.

Nigeria's "Green Eagles", in the light coloured shorts, took to the offensive early in the match played as a warm-up before next week's African Nations' Cup Finals which open in Yaounde, Cameroun.

As first half play got on, the Nigerian forward line increased the pressure on the Moroccan goalkeeper.

Play stopped while an injured Moroccan player was carried from the field. Then Morocco took possession of the ball, but not for long.

A Nigerian score and local fans react with delight. Now behind two goals to nil, Morocco kicks off to start the second half and advances from right to left.

But Nigeria regains control of the ball and scores the final goal in their three-nil victory over visiting Morocco. Among the ten-thousand fans cheering were many distinguished Nigerian officials.
