Background: M. Louis Joxe, newly-appointed French Minister of State for Algerian Affairs, arrived at Algiers Nov 28, on his first visit as Minister, to prepare for the visit of President de Gaulle in the first half of December.
Newly-appointed Delegate-General Jean Morin and Commander in Chief of French Forces in Algeria General Crepin greeted M. Joxe at the airport. After inspecting a guard of honour, M. Joxe met other military and civilian leaders in Algiers.
He found European enraged over two terrorist bomb attacks attributed to Moslem nationalists in which eight persons died and nearly 60 were injured at Boufarik, Nov. 26.
