Background: The president of the World Bank, Mr Robert McNamara, arrived in Addis Ababa on Sunday for a four day visit to Ethiopia. While in the country he is talking with Ethiopia minister on how the World Bank can help Ethiopia's development programmes.
On Arrival, Mr McNamara said he was particularly delighted to be visiting Ethiopia and to meet again Emperor Haile Selassie. The World Bank President added that development loans to Ethiopia had increased considerably in the last two years. He hoped that in the next five years World Bank aid to Ethiopia would double.
During his visit Mr McNamara was due to meet the ministers of finance, agriculture, telecommunications and education. On Tuesday he had lunch with the Emperor and later in his visit was expected to visit agricultural and resettlement projects in Southern Ethiopia.
The World Bank President and his party were due to leave Ethiopia on Wednesday to fly to Rome.
