Background: The Zambian head of state, President Kenneth Kaunda, today (Thursday) spend several hours in discussion with Italian government officials on the subject of arms sales to South African. President Kaunda is making a tour of several European capitals in an attempt to dissuade them from further alleged cooperation with the South African government in contravention of the United Nations arms embargo against South Africa.
President Kaunda is making his tour as chairman of the Organisation of African Unity. He is pointing out to the various governments the decisions of the recent non-aligned conference in Lusaka and the O.A.U. in Addis Ababa which condemned military support for South Africa and the material aid being given to other allegedly racialist regime, particularly Rhodesia and Mozambique.
