The Egyptian President, Mr. Hosni Mubarak, visited the tomb of one of his predecessors on September 23 to mark the 12th anniversary of President Nasser's death. President Mubarak laid a wreath at the Nasser Tomb and paid tribute to a man whose dream of a unified Arab world has yet to come to fruition. President Nasser, who died on September 23, 1970 of a heart attack, was responsible for many great achievements during his presidency including the construction of the world-famous Aswan dam, and the introduction of new technology into rural Egypt. President Mubarak has continued many of the policies first started under Nasser, including the peace process between Egypt and Israel, the seeds of which were sown by President Nasser in talks with the United States shortly before his death, and which eventually led to the Camp David Peace accords.
