    WEARING A GREY SUIT AND BROWN HAT, PRINCE PHILIP WAS INTRODUCED TO SEVERAL HIGH RANKING BRITISH ARMY OFFICERS, INCLUDING LIEUTENANT GENERAL SIR ALAN JOLLY, REPRESENTING THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE FAR EAST, AND COLONEL A.W.LEWIS, DEFENCE ADVISER TO THE BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER IN KUALA LUMPUR.

    HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE GATHERED AT THE AIRPORT ABOUT ONE HOUR BEFORE PRINCE PHILIP ARRIVED TO CATCH A GLIMPSE OF HIM.STRICT SECURITY PRECAUTIONS WERE TAKEN AT THE AIRPORT.

    IN A DRIVE THROUGH THE TOWN TO THE 28TH COMMONWEALTH INFANTRY BRIGADE AT TERENDAK CAMP, 13 MILES AWAY, THOUSANDS LINED THE STREETS TO WAVE AT THE PRINCE.THE CAMP HOUSES ABOUT 10,000 COMMONWEALTH SERVICEMEN FROM BRITAIN, AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND AND THEIR FAMILIES.MEN FROM VARIOUS UNITS PROVIDED A GUARD OF HONOUR WHICH WAS INSPECTED BY THE PRINCE ON HIS ARRIVAL AT THE CAMP.

    FOOTNOTE: PRINCE PHILIP IS IN SINGAPORE TODAY (THURSDAY) FOR A TWO-DAY VISIT BEFORE GOING ON TO MALAYSIAN BORNEO AND AUSTRALIA.HE IS EXPECTED TO VISIT THE MALAYSIAN CAPITAL OF KUALA LUMPUR ON MARCH 4.THE PRINCE WILL BE IN THE CAPITAL FOR THREE DAYS BEFORE RETURNING HOME.
