ISHERWOOD: "The record attempt was on-again, off-again all day for seventeen-year-old Dale. Occasional downpours made the Castlereagh drag-strip greasy, posing dangers that would have made the try without use of a landing ramp seem foolhardy. However, Dale was determined to give it a go, and with a blow-dry from a gas tank and a chopper buzz, organisers felt it was safe enough to go ahead.

"After a few warm-ups for the crowd, our own Evel Kneivel opened throttle for his jump across ten lorries, earning him his second world record this year.

BUGGINS: "No, not bad, I'm a bit winded."

ISHERWOOD: "You took a few risks with the weather, and no landing ramp. Why did you take these risks?"

BUGGINS: "The risks were necessary because, with the racing on all day, I didn't have time to set a landing ramp on. (indistinct)... but it worked all right, didn't it?"

ISHERWOOD: "What's your next big achievement?"

BUGGINS: "Oh, I'd like to do the bus jump this year, but it's just impossible. So it's going to be next year now. The next big thing is Evel Kneivel; I've hot that to look forward to."

ISHERWOOD: "That's early next year, it is?"

    BUGGINS: "Yeah, that's right."

    ISHERWOOD: "Good luck then."

    BUGGINS: "Thanks a lot."
