Background: A journalist representing Reuters News Agency was ejected from a rowdy press conference given in Montreal today (Wednesday) by the lawyer for the French Canadian separatist organisation FLQ. The FLQ at present hold two kidnap hostages and the lawyer, Mr Robert Lemieux, is negotiating with the Canadian Government over the conditions for the hostages' release.
The incident involving the journalist occurred when he tried to ask questions at the press conference. He was knocked over the finally ejected from the room.
Meanwhile, the negotiations appear to be deadlocked over guarantees for the hostages' release in exchange for separatist members in Canadian prisons.
