Background: On the Ping Chau Island off Hong Kong,recently the pet bitch of a peasant family gave birth to three pups and another animal that no one could give a name to. It looked like a piglet, with its blunt nose and split feet,but was covered with hair.

The rest of the litter is normal,all the pups resemble their mother but there seems to be no relation between the pups and the freak. After investigating the case the Ministry of Agriculture stated they had no reason to suspect substitution.

Following the old chinese custom-whenever a freak birth takes place in a village a necromancer is consulted p the local W.seman was called in to give his verdict. If the sees the birth as a good omen then the freak will be allowed to live. Should the forecast go to other way, then tradition dictates the animal whatever it may be -will be killed.
