    Background: A summit meeting between heads of state of the Customs and Economic Union of Central Africa -- (UDEAC) -- ended in Brazzaville, Congo, on Sunday (19 December). The meeting, which brought together the heads of state of the Congo, Gabon and Cameroon, and the Prime Minister of the Centrafrican Empire, decided to aim at true economic integration between the four member countries.

    SYNOPSIS: A sizeable crowd watched the leaders arrive for the last session. President Omar Bongo of Gabon was greeted by Congo President Marien Ngouabi - UDEAC host for 1976. Next to arrive was President Ahmadou Ahidjo, of Cameroon. When the summit opened on Friday (17 December), Major Ngouabi called UDEAC the pride of Africa.

    Prime Minister Ange patasse of the newly proclaimed Centrafrican Empire followed the three presidents into the meeting. The four member countries aim to set up a genuine common market, with a high level of economic integration. a harmonious policy of development is to be implemented in the fields of transport, communications, energy and mining production. The audience at the final session heard Major Ngouabi, the outgoing UDEAC president, call for a further strengthening of the union.
