TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 2: ALI (to Lyle): "Hey listen, you have serious problems. Because I'm just going to walk in to you, I'm going to walk up, I'm not going to run, I'm just going to come here and say, tell me something sucker, show me something, and you're going to punch, and you're going to punch, and I'm going to walk right on, show me something, boy, and I'm going to lay the ropes on you, and after six or seven rounds, and in round eight ... you're going to leave. I'm telling you now before the world, you will leave in the eighth round."

LYLE: "What if it doesn't get to eight?"

ALI: "If it doesn't get to eight, then I'll get you earlier."

REPORTER: "The training camp here at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas has been drawing capacity crowds of about five hundred for Ali's daily work-out. Ali defends his world heavyweight title tomorrow night at the Las Vegas Convention Centre. Some have said that Ali is not taking Lyle seriously. At a pre-workout joint news conference with Lyle, doubts as to whether Ali had lost his flair for showmanship were dispelled."

REPORTER: "Lyle's trainers wearied of Ali's verbal jousting, and left the conference early ... but not before Lyle told Ali that he would do his talking in the ring on May the sixteenth."

Background: Muhammed Ali -- undoubtedly the world's most colourful boxing champion -- held a joint conference for newsmen with his not-so-ostentatious challenger, Ron Lyle.

Ali is strong favourite in Lyle's challenge to the heavyweight title, and says he will knock out Lyle in eight rounds.

Both fighters were in Las Vegas to train for the challenge, which was described by one Las Vegas bookmaker as "a joke, which nobody would bet on". Others said Ali was not taking Lyle seriously enough.
