TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 3: "I have been pained by this statement because the position of my government is well known to Al Fatah, and to its great leader, Mr. Yasha Arafat. All that I wish to say for all times to come is that no Pakistani gun-sight will ever be trained against any Arab. We have a combined military advisory group consisting of army and air force officers. Their job is to arrange training, to provide good facilities for training of Jordanians in Pakistan, because we have institutions. We also have an advisory group of an Anti-Aircraft Firing Regiment. They are located some where faraway from Amman. They are deployed there and training the Jordanian soldiers. But if an Israeli plane comes and bombs them, bombs their positions, they will definitely defend themselves."

Background: Reports that Pakistanis were involved in this week's clashes between Jordanian forces and Palestinian commandos were firmly denied yesterday (Thursday) by Pakistan Ambassador Rahat Saeed Chhatari. At an Amman news conference, the Ambassador stated that the Pakistanis in Jordan would never train their guns on the Arabs.

Fatah Newspaper, the mouthpiece of the Palestine Resistance movement, had claimed that the Pakistan Embassy was involved in the fighting following an abortive attempt of King Hussein's life last Tuesday.

This, said Ambassador Chhatari, was plainly impossible since there were no arms in the Embassy. He went on to give assurances that the Pakistani units currently in Jordan in an advisory capacity would avoid involvement in any Middle East conflict:
