Background: For the 6th time, motion picture producers, directors, cameramen, and actors competed for the SACY prize, which is similar to the famous Oscar, presented in Hollywood.
SACY (say Sasee) is a mythical figure from brazilian folklore. It is represented by a one-legged, pipe-smoking little devil, said to inhabit Brazil's unknown jungles. The little devil is a good one, though sometimes does not behave too well. He is said to make trouble between lover, to pull the leg of the romantic teen-age girls, and so on. His merry laughter can be heard at night in the middle of the Amazon jungle, while he is thinking of some kind of nonsense he will play to someone. The picturesque figure of the SACY was sculptured in bronze by famous Victor Brecheret, and became the prize for the best in motion pictures and theatre, donated by Sao Paulo's biggest newspaper: " O ESTADO DE SAO PAULO", circulation, in the auditorium of which the presentation was held. Nominees from all Brazil, mainly from Sao Paulo and Rio awaited the decision and announcement of the names of the winners. One Sacy prize in the life of an artist can mean a great deal to his career, the same as OSCAR prizes are valued by players elsewhere. The film coverage was done showing the following.:
