    Background: SWITZERLAND, CELIGNY, WALES, PONTRHYDFEN

US actress Elizabeth Taylor has arrived in Switzerland where her ex-husband Richard Burton was buried earlier this week. Ms Taylor's stormy relationship with Burton was conducted in the public eye and the couple married twice - the first time in 1964 after they co-starred in the epic film 'Cleopatra'. They divorced in 1974, remarried a year later and were finally divorced again in 1976. Ms Taylor is said to be distressed at the news of Burton's death and when she arrived in Celigny she refused to comment to the waiting throng of photographers and journalists. A memorial service for Burton was held on August 11th in the small Welsh village where he was born. More than a thousand people were outside the church in Pontrhydyfen as the service was conducted inside. Burton's widow, Sally and his daughters and family were at the service and they heard his daughter Kate read the Dylan Thomas poem to his father. Ms Taylor did not attend the service in Wales, but Burton's niece, Megan Owen, said she expected the American star to visit the village in the near future.
