Background: In order to meet the growing heavy congestion on the Indian sea ports, U.K. sends a expert Mission on Ports under Sir Eric Millbourn. The Mission is sponsored under the Colombo Plan.

On their arrival in New Delhi Sir Milbourn and members of his Mission were received by the officials of the Ministry of Transport. Inspite of the holidays in India, the Mission immediately went into Conference with the high officials of the Government of India. The Mission is expected to stay in India for six months and will be waiting all the ports before submitting its report.
