Background: Visnews filmed the recently unearthed remains of a prehistoric elephant in the Manzanares Valley, near Madrid, central Spain. Described as "the most important find of its kind for fifty years", the nine feet long tusks and jaw bones have aroused great interest in the Madrid Archaeological Institute.

Two Government Ministers, Senor Arrese and Senor San Orrio, and the Institute Director, Senor Martinez Santaolalla, looked on as archaeologists brushed away earth and treated the remains with preservatives.

The animal is believed to have been drowned between 60,000 and 120,000 years ago when the Manzanares Valley was flooded.
