    Background: The Soviet Union today (Saturday) won the two-day swimming and diving match with United Kingdom by 109 points to 94. The events were held at the Derby Bath at Blackpool.

    In the men's highboard diving event Britain beat the Russian divers. A. Kitcher (Britain) scored 152.66 points. Film shows the two Russian divers S. Kocharian and V. Palagin competing in this event.

    In the 220 yards backstroke event the Russian swimmer V. Mazanov won in 2 minutes, 16.8 secs. The British swimmer, L. Barbier was nearly two seconds behind him in second place.

    A new world record was set up in the women's 220 yards breastroke event. It was won by the fifteen-year-old russian swimmer, Galina Prozumenschikova. Her time was 2 min, 47.7 seconds. In winning this race she also broke the world record for the 200 metres breastroke which had been held since 1961 by Karen Bayer of East Germany.

    the 110 yards women's butterfly event was won by G. Phillips of Britain in a time of 1 min, 8.7 seconds. Second was V. Jakovleva of the Soviet Union.

    Britain won the 110 yards men's freestyle event with a time of 54.1 secs put up by R. McGregor V. Morev of the Soviet Union was second.

    Altogether six world records were broken during this two-day match....
