Recently, a French team of aviation specialists headed by M. Henri Ziegler -- chief of the French team working on development of the Anglo-French Concorde supersonic jet airliner -- toured the Soviet plant. The French experts were shown the plant and the aircraft under construction by chief designer, Alexie Tupolev, and the aircraft under construction by chief designer, Alexie Tupolev, and the Director of the plan, Mr. Danilov.
M. Ziegler said after the tour that the Soviet airliner could "accommodate 140 passengers and the salon has more space that of the "Concorde".

The Soviet supersonic jet is being built at the Voronezh Aviation Plant near Moscow. A French delegation recently toured the plant to view the assembly operations.
M. Henri Ziegler, who is head of the French development team working on the Anglo-French Concorde, was greeted by the designer of the Soviet aircraft, Alexie Tupolev.
The French delegation was given a tour of one of the aircraft being built. M. Ziegler said "the airliner can accommodate a hundred and forty passengers and the salon has more ??? than that of the "Concorde". The French design chief went on to say that "the pilot's cabin is also convenient and spacious and everything in it is well thought out and well arranged." The French delegation was also given a demonstration of the small telescoping wings which are used to improve the take-off and landing. M. Ziegler congratulated his Soviet colleagues on what he described as a remarkable invention."
The speech at which the conversion has been made from experimental to production aircraft means the Soviet TU-144 airliner will be the first such aircraft to enter service.
