Background: On his recent visit to Ceylon, the Indian Prime Minister, Pandit Nehru, arrived at the Ratmanala airport, Colombo, on Friday, 17th May.
At the airport, Mr. Nehru was greeted by Ceylon leaders, inspected a guard of honour and was introduced to members of the Diplomatic Corps before leaving in an open field car.
Among his official functions was a visit to Anuradhapura on Saturday, 18th May, when he addressed a mass meeting and then went on to visit the statute of the Big Buddha.
While at Anuradhapura, Mr. Nehru was presented with a miniature of the Big Buddha.
