Background: Three Tanzania-trained guerrillas who claim to have escaped from their training camp in Tanzania, have been arrested by Uganda security forces. The three men, Joel Omuse, a Ugandan; William Wafula, a Kenyan; and another Ugandan, Eri Osere, claim that patriotism, love of their families and bad conditions compelled them to flee a guerrilla camp in Tanzania where they, and more than 200 fellow Ugandans were being trained to attack Uganda. The guerrillas who were captured at Tororo (on the Uganda/Kenya border), had in their possession a let of equipment which included a dozen of blankets, pangas (long knives), a camera, toilet and cooking vessels, clothings medicines, and an Army back-bag. though the men claim to have escaped from Tanzania, yet the Uganda Government is quite suspicious about their claim as they had not reported to the authorities on entering Uganda but just hid themselves until they were captured; and the big number of equipment with which they claim to have escaped makes it very hard for anybody to believe their story. At present they are held in custody at Makindye Military Police Post while thorough investigations are being carried out.
