    Background: A magnificent birthday cake for Sir Winston Churchill - Britain's elder statesman who will be 85 on Nov 30 - was on show at a London bakery, Nov 28.

    Surmounted by a globe and bedecked with 119 flags, the cake was made from ingredients contributed by nations in all parts of the world, excluding the Communist bloc.

    From the generous international gifts which did not go into Sir Winston's cake - and there was plenty left over - another cake will be made for sick children in hospital.

    The London bakers, who make a birthday cake for Sir winston every year, say that this is definitely the best ever. They will deliver it to Churchill's home in London on the morning of Nov 30.
