Background: Mrs Jacqueline Kennedy, attractive wife of the American President-elect, left the Georgetown Memorial Hospital, Washington, Dec 9, with her two-week old baby son-John F.Kennedy junior.
Senator Kennedy pushed his sailing wife in a wheelchair to a waiting car. Shortly after her return home she made a "short, informal call" on Mrs Eisenhower at the White House.
Following the delivery of her son by a caesarean operation, Mrs Kennedy was advised by her doctor to curtail her activities in the White House and completely relax for the next six months.
He said she had recovered normally from the operation but: "The First Lady has 10,000 more duties than the ordinary Mrs Smith."
