Background: King Hassan of Morocco was at Rabat Airport on Friday (September 11) to welcome President Leopold Senghor of Senegal who arrived for a 24-hour stopover in Morocco on his way back from Paris.
According to officials sources, King Hassan and President Senghor were scheduled to hold talks on political matter. President Senghor, who had been holidaying in France, was expected to discuss bilateral relations with the Moroccan monarch.
Other topics were expected to include the situation in the Maghreb, the Middle East and Africa, with special reference to Monday's (September 14) Summit meeting in Nouadhibou, Mauritania.
The Nouadhibou Summit, between King Hassan, Algerian President Houari Boumedienne, and Mauritanian President Mokhtar Ould Daddah, is to be devoted mainly to the question of the "liberation" of the Spanish Sahara.
After reviewing the guard of honour at the airport, the Senegalese President drove with King Hassan to the Royal Guest House in the Osouissi quarter of Rabat where he was to reside during his stay.
