KARUGIRE:"Part of my mission in this country is actually to express our gratitude to the government of this country for the unremitting support that they have given to all elements opposed to Amin. The government of Zambia has never for one day accepted Amin and has been very understanding. We have hundreds of our countrymen in this country and they have all been very happy. For the time being there are no party politics. There have not been in our country for quite a few years. The damage to the country has to be seen to be believed...has to be seen to be believed. Now when you start on ideology, should I say perhaps if we have an ideology at all, it is patriotism. Patriotism, we cannot go beyond that at the moment.

Everybody will put his shoulder to the wheel and when some semblance of normalcy has returned that is when parties can start functioning. That is when...of course when you are creating parties, that means there are a group of people who are agreed on a programme and how to fix the goals and the means. I think right now it is not feasible for us to be politicised in that manner."
