Background: North Vietnam's leaders took part in celebrations on June 8 to mark the first anniversary of the setting up of the South vietnam "Provisional Government" by the Communist National Liberation Front. Among the guests were North Vietnam's Premier, Mr Phan Van Dong and the North Vietnamese representative at the Paris peace talks, Mr Xuan Thuy.
At a special meeting held in Hanoi, the Charges d'Affaires of the Communist South Vietnamese "Provisional Government", Mr Tran Cong Dong reported on latest action in Cambodia and South Vietnam. He said that the Provisional Government was now recognised by an increasing number of countries.
According to Hanoi sources, celebrations were held in South Vietnam a few days earlier to mark the occasion when Premier Huynh Tan Phat of the "Provisional Government" said that it was time for the South Vietnamese to co-operate with all Indo-chinese people to oppose United States "aggression".
