Background: A MISSION REPRESENTING THE NEW ADMINISTRATION IN GHANA RECEIVED A COLOURFUL AND FRIENDLY WELCOME IN BLANTYRE, THE MALAWI CAPITAL, ON WEDNESDAY.

THE MEMBERS OF THE GHANAIAN MISSION INCLUDE SIR ARKU KORSAN, FORMER CHIEF JUSTICE AND LEADER OF THE MISSION; MR. JOE APPIAH, A FORMER MEMBER OF THE GHANAIAN OPPOSITION; AND MAJOR GENERAL OTU, A SENIOR MEMBER OF THE GHANAIAN ARMED FORCES.

THE NEW GHANAIAN ADMINISTRATION HAS SENT SEVERAL MISSIONS TO AFRICAN AND EUROPEAN COUNTRIES SINCE DOCTOR NKRUMAH WAS DEPOSED ON FEBRUARY 25. SIR ARKU KORSAH'S MISSION IS VISITING EAST AND CENTRAL AFRICAN NATIONS.

DOCTOR BANDA TOLD THE GHANAIAN MISSION THAT SOME AFRICAN LEADERS WERE DISHONEST AND LACKED INTEGRITY. HE SAID SOME AFRICAN COUNTRIES CLAIMING TO BE 'PROGRESSIVE' HAD TRAINED PEOPLE IN SUBVERSION AGAINST OTHER NATIONS THEY REGARDED AS 'REACTIONARY'.

THE MALAWI PRIME MINISTER SAID THIS WAS WHY GHANA, UNDER DOCTOR NKRUMAH, HAD REJOICED AT THE FALL OF THE FALL OF THE LATE SIR ABUBAKAR TAFAWA BALEWA, PRIME MINISTER OF NIGERIA WHO WAS KILLED DURING A MILITARY COUP D'ETAT IN JANUARY.

SIR ARKU KORSAH TOLD DOCTOR BANDA THAT IT WAS NOT THE INTENTION TO RETAIN MILITARY GOVERNMENT IN GHANA. A CIVILIAN ADMINISTRATION WOULD BE FORMED AS SOON A POSSIBLE.
