Background: Palestine guerrilla leader Yasser Arafat was secretly flown out of Jordan yesterday (Friday) to join the Arab summit meeting in Cairo.
The guerrilla leader flew in from Amman with Sudanese President General Jaafar Al-Nimeiry, who headed the second Arab peace mission to war-ravaged Jordan, and negotiated yesterday's ceasefire.
Egyptian sources refused to disclose how the mission managed to get Yasser Arafat out of Jordan, but did reveal that Arab leaders feared a Jordanian plot to kill him.
General Nimeiry later reported that the guerrilla leader had told him that 25,000 Palestinians had been killed or wounded during the fighting. He had suggested that a multi-nation Arab force be stationed in Jordan to ensure that the latest ceasefire is observed.
