Princess Juliana of the Netherlands delivers Radio Speech.
OTTAWA ONTARIO, CANADA: SOUND EFFECTS:
SV Her Royal Highness Princess Juliana speaking over radio; "'They Live Forever' is not just a title, it is the very spirit of the Dutch people, and of any people who insist on freedom and peace. We Dutchmen have been at peace for more than a century. We raised our crops, worked in our factories, sailed on the seas, took an interest in science and art, went about in a quiet and constructive manner. There were many of us, in Holland and in the Netherlands, East and West Indies, but we do no cry out for 'Lebensraum'. (SCU) On the 10th day of May, 1940 the peace of 110 years was violated. On the 8th day of December 1941 the war reached our land in the East Indies. Thus, far, the enemy has struck us hard. They have also attacked us in the western hemisphere. To gain freedom originally we Dutchmen fought and bled for 80 years, but in the end we triumphed, and triumph we will again. We cannot be stifled under a layer of dirt. The atrocities we have suffered are branded in our mind. The 750 ruined blocks of Rotterdam, we cannot forget. The destruction in our East Indies has left an indelible mark. The United Nations will free the world. The Nazis and the Japs may be certain of this. Our entire country will be rebuilt when our forces march back victoriously.
