The signing took place in Tunis on the country's national fete day commemorating President Bourguiba's return from exile in 1943.
President Bourguiba is seen entering the former royal palace - now the meeting place of the National Assembly, and meeting at the signing ceremony the Ambassadors of several foreign countries. In the Hall where President Bourguiba's wife, who is seen seated near the Grand Mufti.
The ceremony started with an opening speech, and after the signing, President Bourguiba was presented with a copy of the Constitution and the hymn of the Destour party was sung. There was warm applause when the President addressed the assembly.
