Background: The bright lights and traditional pomp and ceremony arrived in West Berlin last week when one of Europe's most famous circuses pitched its Big Top.
It's the "Menschen-Tiere-Sensationen" which means "Men, Animals, Sensations". The circus is held every year in West Berlin and this year it was the 25th time it had been staged.
It was held in the Deutschlandhalle and the appearance marked the fortieth anniversary of the building.
The circus had its usual full complement of acrobats, dancing bears, tame lions and clowns. But one of the major attractions was a team of wild boars who had been trained to do various circus tricks.
Once again, it has been proved that the show is for young and old alike.
SYNOPSIS: Every year one of Europe's top circus comes to West Berlin. It's the Menschen-Tiere-Sensationen....or Men, Animals and Sensations circus. This year one of the attractions was this team of wild boars who delighted the crowd with their antics.
Monkeys are always a firm favourite, and this would-be cowboy is no exception.
Once again it was proved that the circus is not only for the children. The adults are fans too. Particularly when it comes to skilful acrobatics.
Humans are not the only ones capable of balancing acts....as this Austrian bear showed.
But the humans had to get into the balancing act too....although with somewhat less ease than the bear.
The elephants were there in force was well.
The daredevils of the high wire thrilled the audience with their feats. It's the twenty-fifth time the circus has come to town in West Berlin....and has attracted just as many excited spectators as ever.
