    Background: The President of the Untied Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zaid bin Sultan, has arrive din Morocco for an official visit.

    The Scheikh's visit to Morocco follows visits to Tunisia and Algeria. In Tunis he attended birthday celebrations in honour of President Habib Bourguiba, and in Algeria he had talks with President Houari Boumedienne on bilateral cooperation, and visited tourist and industrial complexes.

    Sheikh Zaid was greeted on his arrival at Rabat by King Hassan of Morocco, with whom he was expected to discuss various Arab issue. In particular the Arab summit scheduled to take place in Rabat on 3rd September.

    Jordan has applied for an adjournment of the talks and the United Arab Emirates have supported the demand, but neither Morocco nor the other Maghreb states of Algeria and Tunesia have taken an official position.

    Sheikh Zaid is expected to stay four days before flying on to Mauritania and Libya.
