Background: In Paris, the displays of clothes designed for this autumn continue. On Monday (25 July), the collection by Serge Lepage went on show.
SYNOPSIS: M. Lepage designs for the fashion house begun by Elsa Schiaparelli. His collection for this year follows straight, severe, but fluid lines. These coats, with Russian influences, were typical of what Lepage sees the fashionably dressed women wearing to combat the cold.
The cold, wet weather didn't deter a large crowd of people from watching the show. They saw the rich, flowing evening gowns, made from elegant materials like brocades, voiles and silk.
There was also an Oriental influence in M. Lepage's designs. Elsa Schiaparelli's style was always theatrical and bold. She used brilliant colours like shocking pink and purple and her influence was seen in M. Lepage's collection.
Elaborate make-up and hair styling featured prominently in the showing. The eyes were emphasised and tiaras and feathers made up the headdresses. Shoes had high heels and many were decorated with gold coloured pieces.
