Background: A Swissair jetliner touched down in Zurich today (Saturday) and brought to an end the ordeal of 64 hostages hijacked to Jordan last Sunday.
The passengers--44 from the hijacked Swissair DC-8 and 22 from the Transworld Airlines Boeing 707--were transferred from the desert Revolution Airstrip to an Amman hotel on Monday.
Yesterday, they were among the 66 passengers flown to Nicosia on the first stage of their journey home. When they reached Zurich today, they were examined by a team of Swiss doctors.
Meanwhile, the Swiss government announced that it would continue to concentrate all its efforts on saving the 40 hostages still held by the commandos in Jordan. Three Palestinians who fired on an Israeli airliner at Zurich last year are currently serving 12-year sentences in Switzerland.
