Background: The Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, has arrived in Moscow on an official visit to the Soviet Union. He is making the visit at the invitation of the Soviet Government.
Mr. Lee, who recently attended the non-aligned summit conference in Lusaka, is making a 10-week tour of Africa, Europe and the United States.
The Prime Minister was met at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport by the first vice-chairman of the U S S R Council of Ministers, Mr. Dmitry Polyansky.
Later he went to the Kremlin where he had discussions with the Soviet President, Mr. Podgorny.
During his stay in the Soviet Union Mr. Lee will visit the Caucasian Black Sea coast, Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, and Volgograd and Leningrad.
Mr. Lee flew to Moscow from Cairo where he had talks with President Nasser on world problems and relations between their two countries.
He is due to go the Paris and Bonn for talks with French and West German leaders before visiting Britain and the United States. He is expected to return to Singapore towards the end of October.
