Background: The First Hawker 'Hunter' Mark 6 aircraft of the one hundred for the Swiss Air Force was handed over at Dunsfold aerodrome today and flown by a Swiss pilot. He is Hans Hafliger, test pilot of the Service Technique Militaire, Switzerland. The Swiss pilot was shown over the controls and 'Briefed' before his first flight, by Mr. A. W. 'Bill' Bedford, Hawker's chief test pilot. Then, Mr. Hafliger taxied away and took off for a trial run which included several 'touch-downs' he expressed his satisfaction with the handling of this supersonic single-seater fighter of the latest type.
