Three horses -- Bogan Glen, Dancing Lady and Top Cobber -- fell only yards (meters) from the wining line in a race called the Bodkin Lighting Stakes. The fall occurred when Bogan Glen was making a last effort to overtake another horse. He appeared to cross his front legs and speared nose-downward in towards the running rails. Dancing Lady and Top Cobber, both running at top speed, collided with the falling horse.
