Background: Five times Wimbledon champion Bjorn Borg of Sweden bowed out of professional tennis on April 10 after losing to his arch-rival Jimmy Connors in the final of the 250,000-dollar Suntory exhibition tournament in Tokyo. After losing 6-3, 6-4, Borg said he was glad everything was over. Borg beat another American, John McEnroe in three sets to reach the tournament final, but was no match for Connors. Before a capacity 14,000 crowd, Connors proved too fast for Borg throughout the 90-minute match, breaking the Swede's service twice in the first set. Despite losing in the final, Borg took a consolation prize of 70,000 dollars for finishing second in the tournament and left the centre court to a standing ovation.
