Johnny bench's two out, three run homer in the twelfth off Joe Niekro gave the Reds victory. Bench's homer, coming on a 3 and 0 pitch, followed a double by Ken Griffey and an international walk to Joe Morgan.
It was Bench's 16th homer and boosted his league leading RBI total to 65.
