Background: Stirling Moss, with just a fighting chance left of pulling off the world motor racing championship, was filmed leaving London Airport with his wife, Katie, October 16, on his way to the Casablanca for the Moroccan Grand Prix on Sunday(Oct 19).

This last event of the year for the World Championship will be a battle between Moss and Mike Hawthorn. Tony Brooks, who at present stands third, cannot win enough points to overtake them.

But although Moss has a chance, Hawthorn will start strong favourite for the final honour.

The championship is decided on the aggregate points scored in any six of the Grand Prix events and Hawthorn, who has been the more consistent with four second places, has a total of 40 points against Moss's 32. Moss has won three races, the Argentinean, the Dutch and the Italian in a British Vanwall. Hawthorn has won only one, the French in an Italian Ferrari.

Hawthorn has scored in six, so if he does well on Sunday he can only add a maximum of five points. A win or a second place would mean that he would have to substitute one race for another.

Moss, although he has only scored in five so far, may still not win the championship even if he wins and records the fastest laps. His aggregate then of 41 would be overtaken by Hawthorn if he came in second.

The manufacturers' championship has already been decided because the Italian Ferraris cannot catch the points won by the British Vanwalls.

Champion for the last five years, Juan Fangio, has not been seriously defending his title this year.
